What could the Big Bad Wolf say in his defense? In this musical, you get to hear just that. The True Story of the Three Little Pigs is a retelling of the classic tale with catchy rockabilly tunes. Alexander T. Wolf, or Al, is on trial for destruction of property, attempted snacking and two counts of, well, "disappearing" pigs. Thus you are warned ... if your child is like my daughter and believes the "pigs run to each other’s houses" version, they might have an issue with this version. No trauma or drama ensued, merely a very adament, "He did not (eat them)!"
Set in Piggsylvania, kids and adults will be entertained as the Big Bad Wolf tries to convince us that he’s not all that bad. And he does need to convince us as the audience is sworn in at the beginning of the trial as the jury. I took my 3-year-old daughter and her 4-year-old friend. Both enjoyed the show and really liked the songs. The show is peppered with just enough adult in-jokes to keep us engaged along with the kids.
My favorite in-joke was that the witnesses swear on the "sacred text" which the Judge revealed to us as a copy of Animal Farm by George Orwell. How did my jury find Al? Not guilty. My daughter begs to differ, but majority ruled. Don’t miss this show. The kids can’t wait to go back.
