Artists-in-Residence

Mini In-School ResidenciesLong-term ResidenciesAfter-School Programs

With our Artists-in-Residence program, we pair up professional actor-teaching artists with classroom teachers in Chicago-area schools to teach drama to children in grades K-8 and provide professional development to teachers. Our residency programs not only teach acting basics, but help students in all areas of learning and social development. In 2010-11, we worked with over 850 students, 25 classrooms, and seven schools.

We offer three types of residencies: 1) Mini classroom residencies, 2) Long-term classroom residencies, and 3) After-school programs, all customizable for your school’s goals and budget. The main goals throughout all residencies are to develop an understanding for drama performance and production, to create linkages for students and teachers from drama to language arts and reading comprehension, and to cultivate peer respect and support.
